"We want a world where inequality based on class, gender and race is absent from every country and from the relationships among countries; where basic needs become basic rights and where poverty and all forms of violence are eliminated...."

Thank you, Lizzie! I love writing in my blog - and I write only when something really stirs me. I'm always so happy to hear that it brings people joy - sana enlightenment rin. Take care. ;->

hi Ms. Natsy! i've been meaning to go back to your blogs. the first time i looked for your site kasi i just browsed through the pictures and blog titles. sabi ko babalikan ko pagnakaluwag luwag. interesting eh!

parang masarap gumawa ng program for reclaiming the self-esteem.

napansin ko kasi as a nation, one of the issues of the young and old alike is the damage self-concept and the perpetual nosedive of self-esteem.

Simply because, the media give us the reason why we should not accept ourselves, except perhaps, Oprah. while book authors try to teach us how to heal this. But not all can buy these expensive books.

The TV, meanwhile is accessible to everyone. And much of the advertisements and storyline delve on discrimination against individual looks.

I wish I could teach every single child in the country that self-esteem should be pegged on ability, not appearance, so they will work harder on things that do matter.

Good morning Natsy! It's sad cause more and more children preschoolers and graders alike are torn between what's 'right' and 'trendy'. .

At such a young age, they are already agonizing over 'weight' and 'dark skin' issues.

What is more difficult is that it's not easy to make them change their minds.

Hi Melba! Ganyan ang itsura ko kung napanganak ako na kayumanggi, like my daughter. Alam mo, while I try my best to make her understand that one's color (as well as one's gender, race, class...you know the drill na) is irrelevant, I know she still struggles with it sometimes (and it doesn't help that her own mother is fair-colored). Kasi nga we have been, and are still being, conditioned that white is best.

Pero ang best talaga ay to live up to our potential, and to help others live up to theirs (and here we refer to ability ha, not appearance).

She is from manila but I believe she is currently based in Silliman doing women stuff.

Hehehe. yes. i met her here during the international women leaders' conference last november. magaling ding sumayaw at kumanta. Teatrong teatro ang timpla. mabait din. pero mukhang mas matangkad ka yata. you looked tall in the photos kasi.
genspec wrote on Jun 28
I googled pa who she is. Kawomenan din pala, mula sa teatro. ;->

That was written by Third World feminists - and sums it all up simply and neatly, doesn't it? Although kung susuriin, from an international political economy perspective, malalim yan.
